August Happenings

Here are some August picture worthy moments:

playing with cousins at Grandma and Grandpa's house

Rondo's first birthday!  Happy birthday little man!

On the last day of summer we went on a hike with friends in the morning, then down to the state capital to a prolife rally with some other friends!  I really liked teaching my kids that we can stand up for things that we believe in.

The next day was this kid's first day of 1st grade!  I can't believe he's so big.  He likes to ride his bike or scooter to school and back.  And this year he told me he's big enough to ride home by himself.  In the morning he goes with all the kids that live around us.  It has really worked out. Wow, my big, brave boy.  It makes me happy and sad to see him grow.  But at least he still likes me to come into the classroom to teach a science experiment every week!

These best little goof balls still play together all the time.

Friday night lights!  I took the kids to half a football game in Morgan for the highschool.  Seriously everyone goes to those.  So we sat with friends.  Kolby and Jack...

...and James and Isiah

Soccer started for these two.  I wish I had gotten a picture of what I look like at games.  Jonathan is in the hiking backpack, and he's okay.  But if he's out he just runs and runs,  and wants the soccer balls!

Dumplings, broccoli, and chocolate pudding of course

We found this car at the neighborhood Wal-mart.  It  must belong to an employee because we see it there often.  The boys think this car is awesome and that we should paint ours like it.

We launched estes rockets.  That was a great gift!  We did end up losing James' as it went up and up, and onto the hill, and we cannot find it.

Hiking for family night as a family

Beautiful place that we live

And just like that, summer was over.  But it was a good time had by all.

Happy Birthday Jason!

Happy Birthday Jason!!  He wanted to have a dutch oven dinner on a beach.  Pineview Reservior was perfect for such an event.  Kathy made most of the food and it was delicious, chicken from the dutch oven, a cobbler with ice cream, and really good cheesy potatoes. Plus there was a beach and water.  The kids were happy, parents had a good time, and no one got sunburned :)

The summer of biking

Nathan did 8 major bike races this summer, and a number of smaller criterium races and hill climb races to go from a CAT 5 rider up to a CAT 3 rider!  Lots of hard work.  He finished 2nd or 3rd on most races.  His race he wanted to win was the Tour de Park City.  What was really cool was Rich and Rachelle and their fam were visiting that weekend.  Kathy and Alan came too of course.  So the finish was exciting...
Waiting, watching, and ringing the bells

Here he comes!!

Yep, that's a first place

157 mile race down

Finally after all year, on top of the podium

Nathan with his mama :)

We came (it was hard to find the finish line)!

Nathan and his proud parents

Sugarhouse Crit

3rd in the Capital Reef Classic stage race

Time trial down in Loa, UT for the Capital Reef Classic

A group ride before the pros took on the Tour of Utah race.
The wheel manufacturer ENVE in Ogden hosted a demo day and a ride with the MTN-Qhubeka (from Africa!) team, Nathan took this picture while riding with them going up Sardine Canyon.

Lagoon Day!!

Before school started this year we really wanted to take the boys to Lagoon for the first time.  We invited Grandma to come to join us, and what a great day we had!

In line for little boats

These boys loved sharing rides

Grandma and Jack excited for the next ride

I love the excitement on their faces!

In line for the log ride...Jack was not a fan :(

Flying spaceships

At almost the end of the day Nathan and Kathy went to go try one of the BIG rides, and were able to be on the one that drops you from very high up...No thank you for me :) (as you read in the last post I'm not a fan of heights).

James and I in line for the Wild Mouse rollercoaster.
He was barely big enough, but he was, and he could go on lots of the bigger rides.

Grandma and Jack on the skycoaster

Driving a plane

After the last ride of the day, Rattlesnake Rapids.
Poor Kathy did not want to get wet, but I think she got the most wet :(

Preston Rodeo

The Preston Night Rodeo came again the last weekend in July, and we could not miss the unofficial Haworth family reunion that always happens!  We got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa on the farm, and the Lovell's were there too.  Before going to the carnival at night before the rodeo, we had fun on the farm with cousins.

Jack and one of the many kittens at the farm

Sydney and James

A cousin four wheeler ride!

We caught little fish at the creek

They were serious about making the habitat just right for the little fish

Family ride

Watching football with Grandpa

Jonathan and Syd

After playing with family at the farm we headed to Preston to watch the parade with the family and eat dinner before the rodeo and carnival.
Me and one of my favorite people in the world Kristie and her adorable and beautiful daughters

Actually during the parade the family took over the outdoor seating and ordered pizza right along the parade route.  What a great looking bunch right here.

Last year Nathan took these two boys on the ferris wheel.  This year he thought I should go with them.  Let's just say I did not realize that I do not like heights very much until on that thing.  Both my boys held my hand, and held very still as to not rock our seat (that REALLY freaked me out).
In line for the huge ferris wheel

Nathan got this picture.  James looks happy, and I'm holding on for dear life, yelling at them to NOT MOVE.  Next year it's his turn again :)>

Our family at the carnival

We look forward to this weekend all year, and we love that so many family members come too. It is wonderful to catch up and make new memories.  Until next year...

Also, we left late Saturday night so that we could be back in Salt Lake for this gem :)
Jason and Nicole blessed their baby Michael and we were able to be a part of it.  Love these guys so much too. It was awesome that Rich and Rachelle could come since they live in Twin Falls now.  Yeah!!  Congrats again Jason and Nicole and that we could be a part of the special day.
