A Little Bit of This and That Through March

WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES IN THIS POST, and LOTS OF CATCH UP

Okay, I'm here, just have had a LOT going on, starting with Mom Manwaring coming to visit and going to Franklin for Grandpa Haworth's 79th birthday...

...and we got to see cousins like the Lovells and Griffeths that we don't usually get to see while at the farm...

...while Mom Manwaring was staying with us, one of my best friends Aubriegh had her baby Quinn via an unexpected-but-actually-a-blessing-c-section, both are now doing well, welcome to the world Quinn!...

...Our nephew Tyler received his Eagle Scout Award. Did you know only 1 in about 100 Scouts will get this award? I didn't, I was proud that Nathan got his and stood up with all the Eagle Scouts that were present at the court of honor...

...James loves his Uncle Mike!...

...there was a real Bald Eagle at the Court of Honor, James was fascinated...

...Mom Grazulis came out to see the Court of Honor...

...Mom and I took a trip to Las Vegas to visit my Aunt Diane, she is doing so well and we are so grateful!!...

...James tested his driving skills on the way to Vegas...

...our niece Kira was in a dinner theater that we went to go see, it was neat and had Disney songs and Michael Jackson songs....

....all four of us girls here...

...James is now 8 months old, and crawling!!!!! Where did the time go?...

...and he is still just the cutest bug in a rug.

Thanks for reading this long, long post!

Aid For Haiti Service Project

Kirstin's boyfriend Trevor is in the ROTC in college. He wants to be a pilot. When the earthquake struck he got an idea to take hygiene kits down to the people there. One night when we had them over for dinner he shared his idea. "I'm on the enrichment committee at church, maybe we can do a drive or something for supplies" I suggested. Well, I presented the idea, which then went to the Relief Society President and we thought both RS's at church (the student ward is big so we get two, that is rare), which then went to the Bishop to get approval and he suggested we do it as a whole ward activity.

Much planning later, we had our activity today, and holy cow, what a SUCCESS!! We made a goal to make 100 hygiene kits that included a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, a small stuffed animal and some hard candy in each. Then we also decided to make some fleece blankets. And the Stake RS had an activity on Thursday that was tying quilts for Haiti. They needed help tying more, so we did that too. We ended up making 113 hygiene kits, 25 fleece blankets, and helped tie 6 more quilts! I kept tearing up seeing how wonderful our ward family is.

Making Blankets, we made 25 fleece and tied 6 quilts!

Thank you to everyone who donated and came to help!! It was a HUGE SUCCESS!!!

Same Place...this time not so fun

Look at the last post here....

What do you see? A frozen lake, walking on it with Lady...

Well, Saturday we went back with Matt and Aubreigh to show them the frozen lake, and walk to {hopefully} induce Aubreigh into labor. Not only did that NOT happen, but Lady fell through the ice at about the same spot as this picture.

Well, actually it was just past that last little stand of cattails that you see right behind us. We had gotten to the same spot on the trail, I took off her leash, and jumped down onto the ice (maybe I should have kept her leash on),and she ran to that same spot and we heard a splash. She was all wet, and not getting out. She was holding onto the ice, spread eagle like, with her back legs kicking and kicking, and she couldn't get out. So Nathan got out on the ice with that 2x4 that you also see in the picture to check the depth. It was about as deep as his thigh, but she was stuck. So he and Matt go out to get her. Aubreigh's thinking we should call the fire department. I'm actually getting a little worried now because that water is cold and now both our boys are out there too, and Lady is still holding on, and half submerged. Nathan ended up falling through the ice too and got all wet, but only up to his thighs, so it was cold, but not too bad. He eventually laid on his stomach on the ice and used the board to distribute his weight, and pulled her out. Then Matt helped her get back to the shore.

We had just talked about having an adventure on the way there.....

Everyone had a nice hot shower when we got home, and Lady is now nice and soft from her bath. She did not want to go outside though the next day when it was slightly raining, I think she is done with water for awhile.

THANK YOU Nathan for pulling her out, my hero :) xoxo
And THANK YOU Matt for helping and risking getting all wet for me and my silly puppy.

It was stupid to go out on the ice, and now we know better for sure how fast a stupid idea can get dangerous. Better to learn this lesson on a shallow lake than a deeper one that we'll live near soon in Mountain Green.

Just a Fun Day in the Sun

It was so beautiful this last Sunday we took a walk out by Utah Lake. There are lots of places around here that we'll miss, and that is one of them. However, as I am writing this it has decided to snow again. I think we are all ready for a little spring, please sun, won't you come back?
