Aid For Haiti Service Project

Kirstin's boyfriend Trevor is in the ROTC in college. He wants to be a pilot. When the earthquake struck he got an idea to take hygiene kits down to the people there. One night when we had them over for dinner he shared his idea. "I'm on the enrichment committee at church, maybe we can do a drive or something for supplies" I suggested. Well, I presented the idea, which then went to the Relief Society President and we thought both RS's at church (the student ward is big so we get two, that is rare), which then went to the Bishop to get approval and he suggested we do it as a whole ward activity.

Much planning later, we had our activity today, and holy cow, what a SUCCESS!! We made a goal to make 100 hygiene kits that included a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, a small stuffed animal and some hard candy in each. Then we also decided to make some fleece blankets. And the Stake RS had an activity on Thursday that was tying quilts for Haiti. They needed help tying more, so we did that too. We ended up making 113 hygiene kits, 25 fleece blankets, and helped tie 6 more quilts! I kept tearing up seeing how wonderful our ward family is.

Making Blankets, we made 25 fleece and tied 6 quilts!
