Boompa comes to visit

Last year my dad(aka Boompa) came out to visit us during the Morgan County Rodeo. It was so much fun, we decided to have him come again for the rodeo and fair. On the first day that he was here we went to the Hill Air Force Museum. Dad has a thing for planes, and James and Jackman love them too.

The next day was the fair and the rodeo. We went back and forth to there three times! In the morning we entered Jack-Jack in the cutest baby contest.
Jackman, Future Farmer
(he had his overalls and hat)

Well the interviews were in the morning, then the awards were in the afternoon, so we went home, but not before James and Boompa made a wooden tool box at the Lowes tent and we saw some animals.

So we went back to the fair in the afternoon for the results of the cutest baby contest and the "diaper derby" (where babies have to crawl across the stage fastest).

Well, Jackman WON the diaper derby! There were even heats, and it was close the first heat, but he kept on because he wanted to be held by his mommy (that was our secret, I went across and he came fast to me:) ) Then in the "finals" he beat out everyone easy cheesy. He won a neat Melissa & Doug wooden toy, and the title and respect for the next year :)

Getting ready to be fierce competitors

Happy kid being held by mommy :)

Well, right after the baby events there was a reptile show, and James was picked to go on stage and ride the giant tortoise!

The Tortoise and James, ride em'!

Then a little later James got to hold a python too.

Check out that snake, James liked him and called him his friend
"Animals are our friends, so let's be nice to them"
(that's from a cute song he knows)

Then we walked around some more and looked at the animals with Kirstin who came up for the afternoon to be with all of us.
We stayed at the fair and then got tickets to go to the rodeo that night.
After getting the tickets, went home to make and eat dinner, and pick up Nathan from his bike ride and work, and then we went BACK, again, for the rodeo.

Boompa had Jack-Jack in the carrier most of the night, he liked being held by his Boompa.
James liked the bull riding again the best, and only one kid rode the 8 seconds.
Bull riding is tough stuff.
I liked getting the Indian Fried Bread with honey butter.
The boys were troopers going back and forth to the fair three times that day, but they sure enjoyed their time with their Boompa, we made the most of every minute.
Until next year Morgan County Fair!
(Where we will enter the baby contest again, and we'll keep our track record and win some sort of event!)
Thanks for coming Boompa and Kirstin :)

James' Is Three!!

Oh wow, my baby is now 3! I cannot believe that. He is starting pre-school this year, but luckily he'll have that for two years, so I'm not too sad. He is my awesome little helper, player, sleeper, really anything but an eater. That he doesn't do so much. We joked that we have to sometimes bribe him with chocolate milk to get him to eat pizza.
Height: 37in (25th %tile)
Weight: 27.1lbs (5-10th %tile)
Head Circ: 19.2in (25th %tile)

He wanted the big pieces of bread, aka, the rest of the loaf

~He loves all things tractor, ie John Deer tractors, combines, bailers, etc. and can tell you all about them (like do you know what the weight on the front of tractors is called? He does)

~He also loves construction vehicles, ie bobcats, diggers, front-end loaders, etc, and he can tell you about those as well, and can seriously spot them from ten miles away

~He loves to bike.
We got him a Strider balance bike for his birthday, and he LOVES it.
He is going to ride a two wheeler before he is potty trained, guarantee it.

~He does not want to potty train.
I've tried all sorts of things, but the doc says don't push, and all of a sudden, he'll be ready when he wants to.

~He also does not like me to spike up his hair, he wants it "all clean".

~He does like science things.
As a science project this summer we raised polyphemus moths from tiny eggs.
When they hatched, James liked to hold them, and he knew they were moths, not butterfly's.

~He loves his family.
He adores Jack-Jack, his baby brother, and likes to snuggle still with any of us.

~He told Grandpa Haworth, with no coaxing from us, that he wants to be a farmer when he grows up.
He also loves the Haworth farm (it has tractors there of course! and cows!)

~He knows who his extended family is.
He loves his grandpa's and grandma's and always asks when we'll see them again.
And he also loves the Haworth farm (it has tractors there of course! and cows!)

~He asks now "what's that" or "what's that noises", then proceed to tell me what it is.

~He likes to spot different animals, and we still go "looking for deer". Now it has included watching hawks, eagles, and osprey (who dive into our lake)

~He is a great little independent player.
He loves to play outside in the dirt, and the sand box under our porch.
He's got his stash of construction vehicles, and will play for hours out there digging.

~He knows tons of words, and most anyone can understand him.

~When he cries he says "I'm really sad", melts my heart

~Loves to play outside

~He can say back to me "I'm smart, I'm kind, I'm important".

~He knows so many things, this kid is a smarty pants!

Mommy loves James, and James loves mommy.
Love you little bug!!!

~He can sign please, more, all done, and thank you

~He sleeps twelve hours at night and goes down like cake, and one-two naps a day

~He is more of a snuggler, and loves to be held

~He still loves his blankie to go to sleep with, and his favorite part is the tag

~He had four teeth on his birthday, the two bottom and the two top had just cut through

~He has a bit of brown in his right eye in his blue iris

~He watches James, and wants to try to do what he does, and over all loves his brother

~James calls him "his best friend"

~He can drink fine from a sippy cup

~He walks along furniture

~He has a turbo crawl, and will initiate it if wanting to escape outside
or to a parental figure to be picked up.

~He won the Diaper Derby for fastest boy crawler at the Morgan County Fair!

~He loves swings and could do that for hours

~He loves to eat, and will sign more please to get you to get him some food
