Locks of Love

So, I have been saying and saying that I was going to donate my hair to Locks of Love, an organization that makes real hair wigs for children with cancer, but I was scared, and thought I'll wait until after graduation, I'll wait until after the triathlons. Well, I guess on Saturday I just got sick of waiting, and had the courage, so just did it! I donated 11" of hair, and got a great hair cut now. I'm not even sad that it is gone because I know that it went to a great cause. Check out the before and after pictures:

New Car

So, with the help of our cousin Mike Porter in Franklin, we found a new car very quickly. It is awesome, and I hope that it will last as long as our Subaru was going to. It is a Hyundai Santa Fe, with this awesome front bumper guard that makes it look tough! I love it, and it is a lot newer than our Subaru was, so when we drive it, it doesn't make noises like the Subaru did(but that gave it it's personality!) It is a great car, and pictures to come...

End of February Fun

So this weekend we visited my sister Ann, brother-in-law Mike, and niece and nephews Tyler, Kira, and Tanner. Tyler just got his driver's license, Kira has grown so much since we've last seen them, and Tanner got a new suit! We had a great dinner together, and then Mike, Ann, Nathan, and I went to the Ogden Temple to do sealings. I had never been to that temple, but it was very beautiful. The day also started out beautiful at 60 degrees, but then started snowing a lot that afternoon! Pretty crazy! While playing Apples to Apples, Tanner was saying some of the funniest things. We were eating popcorn, and we were all talking about the cards and then Tanner pipes in "I'm a squril" and his cheeks were full of popcorn! Then we were talking about the many girls that Tanner likes in class, but he said "We'll I like Amy the best, we could get married tomorrow, I got a new suit". It made us just crack up. Then he modeled his new suit for us, and I had the "Bringing Sexy Back" song stuck in my head during that. Here he is in his new suit being a future missionary:

He also bought a webkins monkey, and had to name him, so named him Nate, after Nathan. That was so cute:
Finally, we also just sold our wonderful Subaru to a family that really needed it in our ward. I loved that car, and thus will truly miss it, but I know that the other family needs it much more that we do at the moment. I remember in Texas how we were helped out so much when we were in need, so I feel like now I've helped someone the same way we were. Our search is on now for another one, but here is a last picture of our great car:

Frustrating!!

So, here is a funny, yet frustrating story. We ran out of ink yesterday, so I decided today when I go to school I'll take the cartridge with me so I can get a new one. Well, when I found the new one the girl working at the ink-refill booth thing in the bookstore talked me into just refilling instead of buying a new one. See, we had tried buying a used one just before, and our printer would never read the cartridge, so I was wary of any other method besides buying a new one, from the box, to my printer, but I got talked into it anyway because it was helping the environment. Now, mind you, an older gentleman dropped off his cartridges a minute before this, and she told him it would take fifteen minutes. So I end up dropping mine off, and it will also take fifteen minutes. When time was up I go and pick mine up, pay for it, and go home. Later when I decide to dig it out of my backpack to put it into the printer, guess what, I got that gentleman's cartridge!!! It is not the same kind, and now not only do I have no ink, but now no cartridge, and I have to go back, AGAIN. Lesson learned, just buy a new one that is in the box every time, and you won't run into hassles. I do my part for the environment by riding my bike to school everyday, so I don't mind throwing away an ink cartridge!

Febuary

What a fun time we've had this February so far!!! For Valentine's day Nathan had to travel, but that was okay as he sent me on a scavenger hunt to find my presents the morning before. He wrote it all out in iambic pentameter as well. What a sweetie! Then the next morning(actual Valentine's) I got a call from the Provo Police Department. My bike that had been stolen last September, was found!!!! I couldn't believe it! To top off the night I got to go through the temple with our cousin Kristi Lee Tanner, and her fiance Tom McConnon before they were married the next day in the Salt Lake Temple. Nathan came back that night, so he was able to go the wedding as well. The next day we were going to go to their reception in Boise, but our car was making some funny noises, so we decided not to drive all the way, but we were already in Franklin, ID, and so got to spend some more time with our cousin's Mike and Misty Porter, and enjoy all the gorgeous snow!

This is how far Nathan was shot off a hill going down on a tube at 55mph(we clocked it with a snowmobile). It was not the brightest idea we've ever had, but we are safe and will never do it again. That is about 40 ft!

We also did some awesome snowmobiling, and our cousin Mike sure can drive. He took me up a hill that was at a 75 degree angle, and there was a bull elk watching us the whole time about 80 feet away!

Where you can't see my other leg is how deep the snow is right now. Lady loved it too!

January 2008

Okay, we are sorry that we haven't updated this in awhile, so here is what has been happening. We went to Arizona for Christmas to be with the Manwaring side of us, and we had a great time visiting with everyone that we normally don't get to see. Dad heated the swimming pool, and it was like a giant hottub! I love hot tubs, so it was great to play volleyball in, though we had to be careful no to stay in too long:) Nathan received his bike, and started training the next day for the triathlons that we'll be in this summer. Nathan has even signed up to do a half Iron Man race! That is a 1 1/2 mile swim/50 mile bike ride/half marathon all in one race. Here is a picture of us at Temple Square under the red tree:

Well, school has started up, and it is just crazy busy. We have been able to steal some time and get to the Haworth farm in Franklin, ID for some snowmobiling, tubing, and visiting Grandpa and Grandma Haworth. Life moves more slowly up there, and that is why we love it. Check these pictures out, you gotta love the snow:)

Well, we've had a pretty fun month so far for December. I can't believe how cold it is, or how much snow we've gotten. It was like in a snap, and it the weather decided that it was winter. For my birthday we had Tyler and Alesha, Jason and Nicole, and Karissa and Cory over for some cake and ice cream. Then we turned on the automatic ping-pong server, and it was lots of fun. We would take turns at doubles, and turn up the speed all the way! Watch out, ping-pong balls can give you welts! I got a Chi (only the coolest hair tool in the world), and some Gel-Nimbus Asics (great running shoes for my little feets) from Nathan. He is a wonderful husband. Then, this last snowstorm, we decided to see what the Subaru could do. I have grown up driving in snow, so we went to a parking lot, and I got behind the wheel and took us for some spins(Thanks to Brady Hansen and Matt Freeman for teaching me back in high school!). Well, the Subaru was awesome, so then being young, married, and childfree at the moment, we did what anyone other reasonable BYU student would do, and went up the hills to the base of the Y and hiked around, during the snowstorm, at midnight. Why not?!?! It was lots of fun, and Lady loved it. We saw six deer too really close from the car. What fun to be young:)
